VirtueMart 2 (previously known as VirtueMart 1.5) is a complete rewrite of the famous VirtueMart 1.1.
We strongly use the Joomla MVC framework and introduced a lot new philosophies and directions to eCommerce for Joomla. We would like to introduce VirtueMart 2 and show some of the the new opportunities and features the component provides. Since September 2009 a new small team has been developing VM2 and we would like to show our results and the changed philosophy behind the project (Plugins, Calculations, Templating).
There are significant functional changes in VirtueMart 2. It is more powerful, flexible and fast as before.
We want to give an introduction, present and take a look on future prospects of Virtuemart 2.

In the last weeks Eugen of enytheme.com was working on a new theme to power the VirtueMart 1.1 demo. We are very proud that this new and polished demo shop is online now. This way people get a better idea of how good VirtueMart can look and feel.

One of the benefit that the switch to Joomla! MVC pattern brings to VirtueMart is the template overriding feature.
But we haven't stopped here: we have push it even further. How ? For example, did you know that you can assign a Joomla! template to a VirtueMart category page ? Or that in the same template you acn specify different views for the same page ?

 Francesco Abeni, lead developer of VirtueMart 1.1.X branch, and Gabriele Sabadini, who is taking care of our Public Relations, from the official VirtueMart Dev Team will be attending the Italian Joomla! Day which is going to take place on 9 october 2010.
During this event, thanks to VirtueMart Italia the Joomla Veneto associations, two local italian user group of VirtueMart and Joomla, a speech about VirtueMart will take place.
