VirtueMart 1.5 is under heavy development, as you can see in the image:

Currently Rick, Max, Oscar and other developers are doing their best to "convert" VirtueMart code according to the MVC paradigma. You can always check out the latest nightly build by downloading it from here.

murph: take care to the performance
the actual Virtuemart is famous on the net for his heavy requests on database server and for his poor performances. I hope this new version will be writed thinking to acceptable performances of the code..

Dena: Can't wait http://www.denatasarim.com
I'm eagerly waiting for the release of 1.5. I'd like to test it for the new release since the current VirtueMart seems too bulky for usage with excessive amount of items. I hope it will be fixed/optimized smilies/smiley.gif

DjGooding: New team same story
Don't get your hopes up for a new release of virtuemart any time soon.
The new team won't communicate with anyone about anything, just like the old team.
I would gladly pay money for a shopping cart that actually works well with joomla and is supported by developers who actually communicate with their users. Virtuemart didn't in the past and the new team is just continuing the tradition of silence.

but i saw that the developement is active, so that is good. it would be nice to see a roadmap with some release dates though. either way, cheers to the developers and lets hope they have more time to chat with us smilies/wink.gif

Dmitriy Pariyskiy (Net@Work): Using views instead of templates? http://web.netatwrok.com
Great news. Best of luck smilies/smiley.gif
Are you switching to mvc views instead of virtuemart templates? The new template override features of joomla would make it easier for people to keep their installations up to date without worrying too much about breaking things.

Mister Exciter: Russian Resource for Virtuemart http://inetta.ru
Hello everyone.
There is an excellent resource dedicated to the Russian store VirtueMart. There are many useful solutions and modifications of the code store. Whether or not developers such decisions? Or any other development and modification are not taken into VirtueMart code?

Francesco Abeni: To everyone who posted bad comments... http://blog.gibilogic.com
...you're right. VirtueMart has done a lot to make life harder for its users. I still am surprised at what a large user base it got to, with such a lot of things which need to be improved.
But i can assure you, really, we are working hard now. Some of us are fixing bugs on 1.1.x so other can spend their time on 1.5. Please remember that if we count all developers for both versions we are no more than 4/5 people and we DO THIS IN OUR SPARE TIME, FOR FREE.
This does not mean we are not taking our responsability; we don't consider VirtueMart a "hobby". But please bear with us; give help instead of ranting about; test new 1.5 and report bugs, or better still, contribute some code.
I myself have entered the team only 6 months ago; you just have to ask, we always welcome new faces.

homes for sale in abbots ford: Congrats http://www.hardyteam.ca
Congrats to VirtueMart Team! I am yet to try out the updated version. I supposed the VM 1.5 will support the previously version of VM 1.4 as well.

Cheers!

What you classify as "bad comments" are peoples legitimate concerns and worries. We are trying to run businesses based on this software. If the fact that you are volunteers and doing the work for free is an issue then please please please charge for virtuemart - many other developers charge for their Joomla extensions and manage to regularly get updates out the door even MVC ones.

@simon123: if you read accurately my post, i said "To everyone who posted bad comments... you're right". So i AGREE with people who raise objections to some VirtueMart issues and the fact that this is a free project IS NOT an excuse.
Anyway, it is not so easy to step from a free project to a commercial one. We are not a company, we are a free community: anyone, at anytime, can contribute to VirtueMart.
I hope we will be able to fix issues while maintaining VirtueMart free of charge.

ok, the fact that there are only 4/5 of you working on this project is incredible with the amount of stuff you've been able to do - - keep up the great work

brentonk: 1.5 bug reporting
What's the best URL to report Virtuemart 1.5 bugs? Or at least get some simple fixes?

Also, I've seen two references to different versions around the forums. 1.9?? and 2?? Do these actually exist?

Francesco Abeni: ... http://blog.gibilogic.com
On forum.virtuemart.net there are forums for reporting 1.5 bugs.
Version 2 is the same as 1.5, we decided along the road to rename it since the code was all rewritten. Sooner all references to 1.5 will change to 2.
AFAIK there is no 1.9 version anywhere.
