VirtueMart - Open Source eCommerce Software

Third Release Candidate of VirtueMart 1.1.0 Print E-mail

The 3rd and hopefully last release candidate of VirtueMart 1.1.0 has been released. A lof of bugs have been fixed since the 2nd release candidate and performance has been improved a little bit. Database table structure was left unchanged.

The new version allows to use external files (through http protocol) as product download files. The VirtueMart Updater has been improved in this version, so Patch Packages can also be uploaded instead of just being downloaded from dev.virtuemart.net.

You can download the Packages from dev.virtuemart.net. There are Packages available for Joomla! 1.0.x/Mambo and Joomla! 1.5. Just download the one you find appropriate for your CMS version.

When will VirtueMart 1.1.0 go stable?

You might have noticed that the original release plan had to be rescheduled. The team didn't find enough time to fix all the smaller bugs. So we concentrated on the bugs with higher severity.

If most of the smaller bugs have been fixed and no ciritcal or blocker issues are left, we can release VirtueMart 1.1.0 stable. This will be in early April (currently April, 9). No new features will be implemented and the database structure will be left untouched, so you could start creating new shop sites with this version and wait to go live until the stable version has been released:

Please don't use this Release Candidate in Production Sites.

George Neddle: Is it the correct package? http://www.althea.ro
Hello,
Congratulations for the great job that is VirtueMart 1.1!!! It's really great!
I just downloaded and installed the third RC, I see that in the packages there are files dated March 29th, but in the xml file and in some other descriptions, after installation, the version appears as RC2. Is this RC3 the right package, and that version thing is just a small neglected thing? Please check the package again.
Thank you a lot!

websnailz: More attention to detail required
Sorry folks... Know you work hard on this stuff but you've got links to RC3 stuff that links to the wrong files/downloads and the documentation contained within has misleading information too.

It'll help you and users a lot more in the long run if you take a bit more time to check things over so folks aren't reporting bugs for RC3 thinking it's RC2, or trying to download Joomla RC3 but getting the language pack only...

After upload of com_virtuemart extract manually components/com_virtuemart/frontend_files.tar.gz and administrator / components / com_virtuemart /admin_files.tar.gz BEFORE installing the virtuemart data.

Still can't see images for products. Only the first page with the categories show. No other product images will show no matter what the setting is in the Admin Configuration. Although when you do activate the autoresizing absolutely no images show at all. I think this is considered essential to the whole idea behind a e-commerce solution, don't you think?

Thank you very much for this, I create 2 new shops with VM 1.1 and I've got only a problem with the look&feel of the back office due to directory access. For the rest VM 1.1 is awesome !

webstard: problem with RC3 http://www.webstardesign.co.uk
Im using Firefox & safari on OSX and I cant add products or categories - so I can really test RC3 as yet. Seems to overload my cpu when I click on add new product and the browser crashes.

This is my first experience with VM 1.1 but other than this 1.1 looks to be a great tool. I was blown away by the interface... it looks awsome... well done guys

Konrad Steinmuller: Problem with RC3 http://www.auos.com.au
Yeah just to confirm the already suggested problems with RC3.

unzipping the .tar.gz files before installing worked for me.

I can't get product category images. I get no page at all when I try to go to a product page, except when the product has items listed in stock. Then for some reason it doesn't go to any page at all, it just seems to load the page forever.

While I acknowledge this is a release candidate, may I suggest you don't consider using this "Candidate" for the "Release".

Hi guys, i tried VM 1.1 today....wow it is awesome! a very big forward jump from VM 1.0.x. I will wait for the stable release and maybe more but i need to know if this version is compatible with previous version of VM because i have now VM 1.012 and a db full of customers, orders, products.. and i would like to keep them as they are...so any clue about that? and what about the compatibility with joomla? which version? 1.0xx or 1.5? thx
