VM 1.1.0 Release Delayed Print E-mail
Written by Soeren Eberhardt-Biermann
Wednesday, 09 April 2008 09:54

The VirtueMart Development Team has to announce that the final release of VirtueMart 1.1.0 must be delayed for 2 weeks. There are still some issues to fix, which prevent VM 1.1.0 from being a "stable" release. The new date for the release is April, 23rd.

The current nightly builds can be downloaded and tested from our Developer Portal. If you find a bug, please report it (best including a fix proposal) on our Bug Tracker.

If you are a translator and you want to translate your language file, you can do this using the Language Manager for VM 1.1. Please note that VirtueMart now comes with a variety of different folders for the language files - each core module has its own language file now. If you have translated your language files, ZIP them up and post them in the User Uploads section and we will review it.

Besides the work for a final release, we are preparing a new corporate layout for our sites: virtuemart.net, forum.virtuemart.net and dev.virtuemart.net. You will be excited!

Alejandro Casteleiro: Oh well... http://www.tecartex.com
I was looking forward to today, now I am not so happy smilies/sad.gif
But that´s ok, I know you guys have been working hard and that you are the first to want this project to be acomplished.
While I wait I will start translating to Spanish. smilies/smiley.gif

I have a couple questions:

Which kind bugs are still not fixed?

Can the current version be used as a catalog until the final release of 1.1.0?

If we install the current version to use it as a catalog, when the final release comes out will it be easy to upgrade? Will I have to re-do the whole store again?

Thank you, and if I can hep on any way please let me know.

Disappointed: Why even bother...
Why even bother with a release schedule? I'm wondering how many times I can tell my clients "just hold on for two more weeks" before they just drop me.

Why not just get the thing stable and then announce it's done. This is twice now that you've missed your mark.

Stanley Rieck: Virtuemart is free, if you want to complain, purchase another cart... http://www.stormwebhosting.co.za
I too am eagerly awaiting virtuemart.
The new version is great, and to those of you who want to nag and moan, remember, you charge your customers to install it, how much are you giving back to the development of Virtuemart? So before complaining, consider that these guys are doing YOU the favour of giving you a component that YOU can use on your customers site...

Great work guys... Keep up the great work

Hey guys,

Can I setup my shopping cart with this right now so that everything is ready when the new version comes out? How will I upgrade it and will it affect anything I have done?

Thanks

Stop asking if you can install a beta and later update it to the stable release. A beta is a beta. There is no way a developer is going to give you any security on it. Updates go from stable to stable.. so hold your breath a litle longer.

And to the guy that lost his clients: they did good on running away from you. Do you have no shame?

Apparently that guy doesn't know how to read. Just to clarify, I don't want to use the beta on a live site. I want to set everything up so that I can immediately use the shopping cart once the stable is ready; I am wondering if installing the stable will affect any settings or data.

We also have clients waiting to go live with their sites and we have been delaying them so that we could use 1.1 It is because of your hard work that people like us are able to setup great sites for our clients.

Thank you for your extremely generous contribution, if we can not give you some financial support the least we can do is offer some encouragement and show a little gratitude.

THANK YOU !

webstard: multiple vendors
I've just noticed that the feature list for 1,1 no longer has any mention of multiple vendors. This is a feature that im eagerly awaiting. can anyone confirm if this feature is being removed from the stable release of vm1.1?
Its a shame about the delay but i guess all good things come to those who wait. the new vm1.1 interface is stunning.

Disappointed in Dissapointed: Don't bother!
Please take your negative attitude elsewhere. Go spend a $1000 on miva and at least earn a spot for your complaining!

Keep it up VirtueMart! I've used all the donation based options around and I am more than happy to wait another 2 weeks or even 2 months...

The Virtuemart development team has and still is doing some amazing work with Virtuemart. To wait a week or so longer for the final release is no problem at all.

Best of luck with resolving these final issues.

I know how hard you people do your job.
I know you really look at every bug mentioned as i also had some bugs discovered which you have solved in a very quick time.
So everybody who is going to use your great software should be happy that you do this for free.
And else they can use the old version for the old joomla if they nag that their customers can't wait any longer.
Be happy or make it yourself!

So i am very happy with the makers of virtuemart and you deserve a big applause!!!

What are the known bugs in 1.1.0 RC3? We can not afford waiting another week to launch the e-commerce module on our website. Should we use RC3? I mean so far we have not found any bugs.

Thanks,

I,m testing VM 1.1.0 and ther is some failure. When you have an article which you have to select in option field what kind of article you like, nothing happend if you don't select one option. Don't show the message to select the option and don't put in to a chart.

It would be very nice if in stable version this inconvinient will be fixed.

You have done a great job, and I'm glad to be part of your community. And when the stable version is done I will be glade to donate som money.

Best regard's.

Digital Smarts: Patience is a Virtue, right? http://www.digitalartsmarts.com
Like many others, I'm eagerly anticipating the release of VM 1.1... BUT I ask that we all be patient. Soeren and the team are doing us all a FAVOR. Unless you've sent Soeren a few thousand dollars (U.S.) for the component, then I think we all just need to be patient. I'd rather that they make sure that the code is tested properly before release than to have them release buggy code.

If you haven't sent a few thousand (smilies/wink.gif) then send in how ever much you can as soon as possible. It's certainly on my to do list!

And thank you Soeren! You guys are doing great. And your work is VERY MUCH appreciated!

Red Rings: Sending in the money
To Digital Smarts -> nice theory, but the problem is that the money gets sent in to VM after I get paid by a client that I setup the cart for. So, as much as I would like to send in the money for 1.1, I haven't earned it yet smilies/smiley.gif Patiently awaiting the release so that I can finish up a few sites and send in my donation.

Say What?: 5 Bucks?
Not to be a stick in the mud, but have you ever written any code?

And how much money do you make developing using this software? You should pay a portion of every job you get by using the software. I know I will be.

Stop being so selfish.

Lily64: Say What? - Agreed
Yes, I have written code. I have not yet used this on a production site, but am intending to use it on several that are pending. I have downloaded the nightly builds and played with it some and it's terrific. I will definitely donate for all production sites. I have no problem with that and would pay anyway if they charged for it. I do hope it is released soon but will wait for it and will use another software for sites that cannot wait. Patience, people!

Tommy Jonsson: database field 32 chars when data is 32+3 chars http://several
In table mos_vm_orders the field order_number is now containing a longer data string compared to before. Seems like user_id is added in front of the hash. Just adjust the length of the field if it's a problem with some payments modules. (On VM 1.1.0 RC2)
(did'nt have any success with the bugtracker tool today)
