Development + Extensions Site - Server Maintenance

Yesterday I was informed by our Server Hosting Company that one of our Servers must go offline for 5 hours from 11 p.m. (Thursday December, 4) - 4 a.m. (Friday December, 5). They are renewing and reorganizing the Central Power Connection for their Server Center.

This means that for at least 5 hours the Extensions Site, the Developer Portal and JAdCenter are not available. Most of our users worldwide will hopefully not even notice the short outage.

I'm sorry, but I really can't imagine a hosting company telling me my server would be down for 5 hours, unless the server facility was on fire or something. That just sounds like VERY questionable technical set-up.

Regular User: Installing Problem

But what about the problem with installing the product. Shouldn't it be wise to warn people about installing problems on the download page and the news page as the first post?

What's the point of announcing anything if installing the product is such a big issue.
