The VirtueMart Developer Team is proud to announce the release of VirtueMart 1.1.5

Important: there will be differences between a clean installation and an upgrade from VirtueMart 1.1.4, please continue reading below!

About this release
While the main task of the core team is the brand new VirtueMart 1.5, we don't forget about 1.1 users for sure!
VirtueMart 1.1.5 is a manteinance and security release that contains new features and some minor bug fixes.

What's new in VirtueMart 1.1.5 :

  • Rewritten PayPal payment module , refactored by following the new PayPal API
  • Rewritten Merchant Warrior payment module
  • Various bug fixes

Some bugs are still there, ouch! Please, help us keeping VirtueMart fully functional!
Check the them at http://dev.virtuemart.net/redmine/versions/show/9 , as they are going to be fixed in the upcoming 1.1.6 release and if you find something is not properly working, please, submit a new bug to the tracker.

Differences between clean installation and upgrade from previous versions

The new developed payment method will be available by default only for a clean installation of Virtuemart 1.1.5

Therefore, if you are going to upgrade, rewritten payment modules won't be in your payment list. Don't worry: if you feel comfortable with the old ones, there's no need to update anything at all.

If you'd like to, it's possible to update them to the new ones by following this simple instructions, but you'll have to completely re-configure your payment module.

Instructions for updating payment modules ( again: upgrade only & not mandatory)

Install the patch, then go to Store -> Add Payment Method and edit the "Payment Method Form" tab settings accordingly to the above images

for merchant warrior

for paypal

Then, fill in the "Configuration" tab form with your private payment method account's data.

Hey there and congratulations!

It's been almost a year since the last release. As we've seen in the forums, some of VM users got really anxious and wondering if VirtueMart is still being developed and moved forward.

Glad to see VM's team has finally finished the development cycle of 1.1.5, and has shown its eager community that VM is going forward, dominating the Joomla! e-commerce components market.

As many of us know, the next big step for VM is to go MVC. We're also aware how big an endeavor such a transition is. We're in the same process ourselves with our extension (VM Affiliate), finishing the latest touches. Yet, once this is properly accomplished, and proper structure is given to the component, new features can be implemented way easier.

So, congratulations on this achievement, and looking forward to the MVC VirtueMart.

Warmest regards!

Hey K0nan,

That's great to hear!

Looking forward to the alpha version!

Depending on the framework, we also need to adapt our extension smilies/smiley.gif.

Will 1.5 include support for hack-free 3rd party extensions?

We have managed in our new extension release to make ours hack-free, after endless hour of work which resulted in an integration plugin. However, it would be really nice to see native support for extensions.

Warmest regards to you and the VM team!

Hi,

Many many congratulation to VirtueMart Team. I am yet to test out the new version. Hope VM 1.1.5 will also support the custom themes designed based on VM 1.1.4

I can already see some changes due to new PayPal module. So we are going update all our custom themes for VM 1.1.5

Regards,
Das
