Jomcomment LogoOne of the most needed features for a multi-user website with news items is a comment system. It's just a matter of social sense (or whatever!) to allow commenting articles.

I have now added JomComment to virtuemart.net - AkoComment had to go! The best thing about it: it can be directly integrated into your VirtueMart installation for commenting on products! Read more about the way how to integrate JomComment into VirtueMart here: 3rd Party Component Integration.

Many Mambo and Joomla! based websites are still running the "old" AkoComment component written by Arthur Konze and modified countless times (although not allowed by license, but the license itself is curious). I had this component and the accompanying mambot installed from the very first days. Now it had to go, because it's just not updated by the author and the code itself is not....hmm....let's say "beautiful" or XHTML compliant.

That's why I decided to switch to JomComment, a new ajax-featured commenting system. It's easily customizable by the many settings and a template system (it comes with 5 templates).
