VirtueMart 1.0.0 final released

The VirtueMart development team is proud to announce the immediate availability of the final release of the first version of Virtuemart. You can also follow the download link in the upper right corner.

As always, you can use the VirtueMart Remote Installer to install VirtueMart on a remote server (the links latestcomponent.php and latestmodule.php have been updated to point to the new files). If you need another language than english, please download the additional Language Pack. It contains language files for many many languages. If you just want to update from VirtueMart 1.0.0 RC3, you can upload the Patch Package to your shop.

Virtuemart 1.0.0 is NOT a release loaded with lots of new features. We concentrated on fixing known bugs and other known issues. We think that beta testing being based on 3 release candidates up to now showed that this release is stable.

We also concentrated on an easy upgrade procedure for users of mambo-phpShop. It is easy to upgrade. Please notice, that a well-tested upgrade is only available for mambo-phpshop 1.2 pl3. So in case you are using another release, please upgrade to version 1.2 pl3 before switching to Virtuemart 1.0.0

Well, finally you want to have a real good reason for an upgrade?
We included these new features and enhancements:

1. Optimized product search for the customer (strings separated by space will now be combined by AND).
2. Better order management for customers. List of orders now can be searched products, text annotation and order status. There is also a page navigation now.
3. New: discount price can now be edited directly at the product page, "product_discount" record will be automatically created or overwritten if one existed before.
4. Better registration form, easily extensible and fully controlled by JavaScript (with JavaScript disabled the system will behave like before).
5. Display of prices can be restricted to certain mambo/joomla member groups.
6. Support for product packaging + packaging units. So you might create products that consist of 6 pieces per package or 4 packages per parcel.
7. Quick publish/unpublish of products, categories and payment methods via link for the publish icon.
8. Better product search for store admins. Now search for "product created" and "product last modified" will be supported. Additionally it is now possible to search for products having no price.
9. Improved "product inventory" and "special products" list (now filters for products in stock, featured products).
10. New: optional "Silent registration" (new customers don't have to choose a username and password during checkout registration, customer will receive his account information via e-mail, username will be the e-mail-address, password will be generated randomly).
11. Now 5 EXTRA FIELDS in user_info for easy customization. The mambo/joomla table "mos_user"/"jos_user" will now be left as is, avoiding conflicts with other components.
12. Better compatibility with other components (namely phpBB, Simpleboard and Zoom-Gallery). This was achieved by not extending the mambo/joomla user table and by interpreting variables only when addressed directly to com_virtuemart (avoiding problems with other components using the same variable names).
13. Optimized code for PayPal (now redirects the customer to PayPal after the order is placed).
14. New: Verisign PayFlow Pro payment module.
15. 99,9% translatable thanks to Mambelfish (the only know restriction is the translation of attributes of child products).
16. More languages supported than ever before, the added languages are: Croatian, Czech, Bulgarian, Icelandic, Polish, Russian, Slovenian, Thai, Vietnamese.
17. Better support for customers who have disabled JavaScript.
18. Full support for Shared SSL
19. Virtuemart is now better protected against SQL injection (phpInputFilter).
20. Optimized TopTen module (now 1 access to database compared to 20 before).
21. Better error reporting system by using new internal log class. Errors to be seen by customer are now classified (Info, Debug, Tip, Error, Warning, Critical ... ). Now even many debug messages can be browsed in a comfortable way.
